Linking MEPI to other organizations
March16th–20th, Prof Omaswa Francis attended The Consortium of Universities for Global Health Conference in Washington DC where he attended a meeting with MEPI PIs and US Government Officials on MEPI and participated on a MEPI Panel.
Prof Omaswa Francis wasa Resident Scholar at the Bellagio, Italy Rockefeller Foundation Center on a writing scholarship awarded by the Rockefeller Foundation between April 14 – May 13.
During May 20th- 26th Dr. Omaswa attended the 66 World Health Assembly in Geneva where he was a moderator of a Side Event co-hosted by the governments of the USA, Uganda and Zimbabwe and was addressed by Health Ministers from these countries and MEPI PIs from Kenya, Zimbabwe and the NEPI Malawi program. Dr Omaswa also moderated a discussion on Health Workforce Migration and a Webinar on HWF skill mix.
Dr. Elsie Kiguli-Malwadde attended the South African Association of Health Educationalists conference in Durban, South Africa, 19-27 July 2013 with a theme “Information to Transformation”. She presented a paper entitled: Faculty Recruitment and Retention in the Medical Education Partnership Initiative (MEPI) schools.
